1990 Lillooet Lake Road Blockade

The 1990 Lillooet Lake road blockade was the longest first nations protest in Canadian history.  In November 1990, the RCMP moved in force to clear the blockade, arresting busloads of Mt. Currie residents.

UPDATE:  One the years I’ve allowed the photos from the blockade to be used by various documentarians, students doing history projects, and documentary film makers without any licensing fees.  I’ve always thought that I was just the guy taking the photos, but they really belong to history.  Last year I got a request from the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre asking to use some of the photos for an upcoming exhibition, which I agreed to, and the promptly forgot all about it until last month, when I got a note from the curator to come see the ‘Fighting for Justice’ exhibit.  I was really proud to see my photos prominently displayed.
